Felix Beck holds a Diplom degree (~MA) from the Berlin University of the Arts Visual Communication program where he studied New Media Design; the same field he later got appointed as Meisterschüler under the patronage of Professor Joachim Sauter.
He has gathered practical experience working as designer and user-experience professional for several renowned german design and architectural studios and clients in business and cultural institutions from 2001 on. His work has been featured in a range of art and design publications and has gone on to several exhibitions and international design festivals.
Professor Felix Hardmood Beck shares the interest of New York University Abu Dhabi and it’s Engineering Department to strengthen activities in providing undergraduate students an exceptional education, and, specifically, for the Engineering Design Studio, the Design Minor program, and the Interactive Media Program to achieve global acceptance and to become a leading position and a centre of excellence in design, innovation and technology in the MENA region.
Holding the position Assistant Professor of Practice of Design at the New York University Abu Dhabi’s Engineering Department, he works in the fields of design, technology and innovation. He is Director of NYUAD’s Lab for Narrative Technologies and Spatial Installations (NTSI-Lab), and Head of NYUAD’s Precious Plastic Research Group. In his research projects he envisions systems and spaces, and creates and deploys innovative objects and installations through design and engineering tools. He develops scenarios and pioneers use-cases for the interaction of humans, digital media, and artifacts of the non-digital world.
